I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "Ubuntu unstable".

The package in Ubuntu Oneiric (the unstable development release that will 
become 11.10) is available here: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtkpod . 
It is based on the Debian package for 2.0.1 ( 
http://packages.qa.debian.org/g/gtkpod.html ).

Oneiric includes GTK3 and libanjuta 3, so packaging recipes can be created for 
it. Natty (11.04) includes GTK3, but only the GTK2-based libanjuta 2. It 
probably would be possible, in principle, to maintain a PPA for gtkpod that 
also includes a copy of the new libanjuta.

Speaking of which, would you like me to transfer ownership of the gtkpod 
launchpad project ( https://launchpad.net/gtkpod ) to you? I created it looong 
ago to track upstream links in Ubuntu, but seeing how you have a Launchpad 
account...
