Comment missing for "menu Mode"

In configure -> System Configuration there is a point
"menu Mode" which it not commented. Which values are reasonable?
Can I only switch between "choose from list" and "choose from regex" or
is there a "combination mode", which list the domains and additionally
displays the "choose from regex" at the top of the list?
