Well, it actually answers your question.
With Postfix 1.x there was no distinction between those maps.
So to keep compatibility, you just assign your (old) alias map to both 
directives.
For a clean install I prefer to seperate them, as it is suggested by 
postfix docs.

If that's the only way it works for you, then you have some 
misconfiguration for your maps.
