Just to get some ideas together.

Untill MySQL supports PAM which is beeing talked about
(http://forge.mysql.com/wiki/PluggableAuthenticationSupport) there
will be a major problem for this, usernames for MySQL are hardcoded to
a maximum lenght of 16 chars.
This introduces a major problem, all you can go is like:
[email protected]
test_tes_dom_com
[email protected]
testtest_dom_com

As seen, most usernames plus domain will easely get more that 16 chars.

Any ideas on how overcome this?

Wendel, you seem to have made this work(we're still waiting for your
patch :) ), what was your approach?

Happy thoughts,
