Canonical entry for replica domains when mail is not local

Quick question:
Is it proper for ISPMAN to create a canonical entry for a replica
domain when the mail is set to be delivered to MX host? It seems that
ISPMAN should not as it is not the final destination for that mail..?
Or is this more of a cosmetic issue? Will postfix send it on before it
rewrites the address?

Thanks
David
