I have some dificulties to get maildrop to work to. It cames up in my
instalation that maildrop hasn't suficient privileges to deliver, as he needs
to change to the mailbox privileges. So I needed to set SUID that wasen't set
out of the "box" after building maildrop-ldap.
Here is what I have:
> ls -al /usr/bin/maildrop
-r-s--x--x    1 root     mail       177572 Aug  5 12:01 /usr/bin/maildrop

And just to compare, my postfix/master.cf have:

[root@arara postfix]# grep mail master.cf |grep -v ^#
maildrop  unix  -       n       n       -       -       pipe flags=R user=opkg-n
argv=/usr/bin/maildrop -V 999 -d ${user}
