No, nowhere as many apps can use mysql than ldap for directory info.
PAM can, yes, but pam is slow and not on every system/app
LDAP is for user info and such, it replaces /etc/shadow and the like.
MS's AD is based on it even.

Actually the market has shifted. The market was sitting wherever the
OEM's sat them, now they are learning and making a choice, away from MS.

Atif does commercial setups for a fee, as well as custom coding. Fee
free to contract him to write some stuff. The problem is so many ppl
use ispman in house and don't release the changes they make, because
they are so custom and messy.

for the most part, only atif can write a module for ispman that is
not avail unless you pay, that is the point of the GPL.

Step 1 is to clean the ispman core code up
Step 2 is to add a nice interface for backend and ui plugins
Step 3 is to add those plugins

If you're not a programmer, either pick up a book or hire someone
that is. It's worth it if you are planning to try to make money using
ispman. It works for what I need it to do, so I don't complain much,
but just because it's GPL doesn't mean that everyone can yell to the
wind to add features that they want. It's GPL so you are able to add
a feature that you need. SF.net has a lot of programmers that might
like a small job fixing an ispman module or 2 for cash.
