The biggest pain is assembling the following:

http://cvs.apache.org/builds/gump/latest/packages.html

If you are on Unix (this includes Linux and OS/X), then there isn't all 
that much more than getting a few paths right.  On Windows, there are a 
few more gotchas (CRLF, environment variable length restrictions, etc), 
but I run there just fine.
