on my todo list right after excalibur phase I release is a full, clean 
gump run. I should have my own machine with a full gump install this 
weekend if things go as planned; I've postponed further work on gump and 
the stuff that goes with it till then.

but, rest assured, your concerns have been duly noted (already ;).

in fact, here's my ASF todo list:

1) new machine
2) gump on new machine
3) clean gump of avalon and cocoon and all dependencies
4) DwA
5) java-repo (need something soon)
6) play with moof
7) go over and fix avalon.apache.org (again)
