Flippant error messages

We just received a comment about this:

echo Warning: PHOENIX_HOME environment variable is not set.
echo   This needs to be set for Win9x as it's command prompt
echo   scripting bites

C'mon, guys.  "Bites" is not a suitable technical term.  Someone might want
to document the ACTUAL error.  Something about not being able to set it
automatically.
