Steve, I think the 'versioning' is starting to become an serious issue, and I 
think we should brain storm this into a final form.

David, I am not entirely sure of the 'rationale' Steve has put behind the 
current system, but I think you should have;

  <version>3.4.0</version>
  <status>SNAPSHOT</status>

if you want your system to depend against the SVN HEAD.
