Merlin Metadata in Database ?

All,

Right now Merlin Metadata are in xml format (.xinfo,
block.xml etc). Is it possible for me to store the
same Metadata in Database. If so please let me know
how I can achieve this.

If not,is it possible for me to make an adapter/plugin
to read Metadata from database and that can be
consumed by Merlin.
