RE: classloaders?

Are you're saying I can't set the location of the repository? It has to be in the directory the program in launched from?
 
I tried creating a merlin.properties in the current directory but I don't think that was effective. Is there something else I could try?

Yes.

No - but info you use the -info option you will see a listing of the
value that Merlin is using for the cache and this should correspond with
the value used in the classpath. The ${user.dir} that appears in the
log is simply a substitution of the System property value so that your
logs are easier to follow and expose less information about your
environment.
