We are not developing the Eclipse plugin anymore, but a couple of months 
ago we got some questions about it from a committer for the WTP (Eclipse 
Web Tools Project) project - they were planning to create such a plugin 
on their project, but I don't know what happened so far...

That's right, we don't have a M2 plugin yet; Kenney had started to work 
on it a couple months ago, but it has stalled.

I don't understand what you mean by Cactus managing its own container - 
you must tell it in which container(s) you are deploying...
