[DISCUSS] LANG-1788: ISO3 <-> numeric country code mapping in Commons Lang

Hi all,

I came across LANG-1788 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LANG-1788>,
which requests a way to map ISO3 country codes (e.g. “USA”, “GBR”) to their
corresponding numeric country codes.

Before attempting any implementation, I wanted to ask whether this kind of
functionality is considered within the scope of Commons Lang.

I’m totally new to Apache Commons and open source contributions in general,
so I’d really appreciate any guidance on how best to proceed.
