User Docker image apache/james:demo-3.6.0: SMTP problem

Dear James Community, I tried out the Docker image apache/james:demo-3.6.0 as described on the Apache James landing page as well as here<https://james.staged.apache.org/james-project/3.6.0/servers/demo.html>. Starting the image works and I can also add the mail addresses of the users with the domains james.local and test.local to Thunderbird. After adding, the IMAP connection to check for new e-mails works as well (although ofc, there are none). However, I cannot send e-mails by SMTP to one of the user users or the same user. The error I see in Mozilla is "Authentication required". I do not see entries in /log/james.log which I can refer to the SMTP topic. I got the same problem on a Windows and a Linux host. I don't know what I am doing wrong here. Does anybody can tell me how to fix this problem? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance Felix
