I suggest just forgetting about systemd.

I should say that although I do run my own mail exchanger. I never used James in production. Also that although I use Debian on my servers, I intensely dislike systemd and use devuan (ie debian minus systemd) on development/home machines. 

Except that I don't want the extra fiddling about setting up devuan on VPS (all providers will install debian), I'd quit debian altogether. I  had hoped  that devuan would get merged back into debian, but I read that with the new debian13, systemd is becoming more entrenched.
