Do take note of the earlier comments that suggests you don't need to build
your own copy of jetspeed and just use the installer.  Writing portlets is
a different problem and there are plenty of frameworks (e.g. spring) that
help.  Alternatively, for simple portlets, just using the raw portlet API
isn't hard.
