The Chat Room demo portlet input values need to be escaped in accordance with common practice such as escaping values with {{escapeXML="true"}} ({{true}} being the default value of the [c:out|https://docs.oracle.com/javaee/5/jstl/1.1/docs/tlddocs/c/out.html] escapeXML JSTL tag attribute.
