Has the web.xml of your portlet been assembled properly?

You will need to update the web.xml of your portlet, either using the 
pluto ant tasks, or maven 2 plugin, before deploying your portlet in the 
pluto portal.

http://portals.apache.org/pluto/v11/deploying.html has an example maven 
pom which does assembly and 
http://portals.apache.org/pluto/pluto-ant-tasks/getting-started.html has 
an example ant task.

We probably need to centralize and update these examples.
