Since the error message was:

Artifact upload failed.
[pivot-2.0.pom.sha1, pivot-2.0.pom.asc] are invalid maven artifacts

it was harder than it should have been to solve the problem ;-)

Can the error message be changed to give a clue as to what the real problem is?
