Mkcol metadata, but not content

Using Slide 2.2-dev from SVN with TxXMLFile stores.

I'm creating a collection, and the metadata is getting created
(/store/metadata/files/mytestdir.xml) but the content folder is not
(/store/content/files/...nomytestdir).

This is extremely unusual as been running fine to-date.  This was on a
Linux system.  Running the exact same client-side code on the exact same
version/configuration of Slide server to do the MKCOL works fine on a
Windows test box.  Running VB/MS client code and Java client code on
both server types have the same results (the linux/been running for a
while server creates metadata but not content, while the window/fresh
server does fine).

The server log is showing MKCOL, with 201 Created and no errors across
all tests.

Has anyone else seen or heard of something like this??
