I've effectively managed to wipe out part of my home directory (I managed to stop the process) when executing SCM/Checkout Sources action.

The problem is that the folder to checkout was empty string which was converted to java.uti.File. That file instance was pointing to "user.home". The SCM plugin when executing was set to use this location as checkoutDirectory. The plugin takes that directory and deletes it. Ouch.

I'm commiting a hotfix now, that prepopulates the location field is a value that should not cause harm.

Please add some checks that warns the user that the selected directory exists and is non empty and note the consequences of proceeding.
