(Dispatches or filters) and threads

Reading servlet specs I noticed this reminder:

Is anybody aware of a container, 2.2 and above api level, 
that doesn't follow this recommendation ?

The word -thread- doesn't appear between pages 49-77 of the aforementioned spec.
Does this mean that a filter and a servlet may be executed by different threads on 
the same request on some existing container ?
