antcontrib vs antelope tasks (was Re: <assert> broken in antcontrib 1.0b3 ?!)

Thanks for your comments about Antelope tasks versus Antcontrib tasks. 
It seems to me that the projects have diverged.  It seems that the main 
focus of the Antelope project has become maintenance on Antelope as a 
jEdit plugin, while the main focus of Antcontrib has become the C/C++ 
compiler tasks.   I'm still actively maintaining the Antelope 
stand-alone application, which I think has generally replaced the 
Antidote GUI that used to be distributed with Ant itself, and I'm still 
maintaining the Antelope tasks,

The Antelope tasks, at least in my mind, were always secondary to the 
development of the Antelope GUI.  When I first contributed the Antelope 
tasks to Antcontrib (back in Oct 03), I had thought that Antcontrib 
wanted to be the main repository for external tasks.  It seemed like 
there was some duplication of effort between the two projects, so it 
seemed to make sense to merge the Antelope tasks with the Antcontrib 
tasks.  Since then, Antcontrib seems to have become more focused on the 
C/C++ compiler tasks than anything else.  I'm still maintaining the 
Antelope tasks, and honestly, the reason for not getting more of them 
into Antcontrib are due to lack of time.  I tend to write tasks as I 
find a need for them, then add them to the Antelope tasks, and 
eventually migrate them to Antcontrib when I find time, which has been 
sorely lacking.

I'll make an offer here to both the Ant user community and the 
Antcontrib community -- I'm willing to accept any and all help to get 
the Antelope tasks merged into Antcontrib, or if the community thinks 
the reverse is more logical, then I'm all for that too.
