p.s. I use the default as shipped by AH-OS: 
com.urbancode.anthill.adapter.UrbanCodeVersionAdapter.  Are there other 
adapters and function differently?

Frank,

My first thought would be to put the test build on a different numbering 
scheme using the ProjectPropertyFileVersionAdapter. That way it wouldn't be 
interferring with the other versioning file at all. Since both projects are 
running against the same source, it may even make sense to run both of them 
off that adapter.
