Dear all There are indeed plans to support Javassist instead of Bcel. Some work has already started in that direction in a CVS branch, and I have also a prototype work as regards redefinition of joinpoints at runtime that is using Javassist. We will do perfomance measurement as regards Javassist, and we might in the future switch again in favor of ASM, again based on performance measurement. Currently our main objective is to increase the feature scope, and we think Javassist can help to achieve this in the shortest time. AspectWerkz has always been designed to be bytecode kit independant, and the use of the hooking part in cglib thus with ASM is an evidence of this reality. Any input on these bytecode kits are welcome.
