I have not found anything much on the archive related to IBM WAS. I am just
elaborating my steps and the error messages i am getting, it will help you
to understand my problem.. Please help me by giving some hints to resolve
this issue.

I looked at the aspectwerkz.bat file available in the bin folder. There  

"%JAVA_COMMAND%" -cp
"%ASPECTWERKZ_HOME%\lib\aspectwerkz-%ASPECTWERKZ_VERSION%.jar"
org.codehaus.aspectwerkz.util.EnvironmentDetect -jvm" is used to detect the
JVM. Since i am using the IBM JDK it returns 1 and the control tries to
execute the line

@REM -- Use for Sun HotSpot and IBM JRE --
"%JAVA_COMMAND%" -cp
"%JAVA_HOME%\lib\tools.jar;%ASPECTWERKZ_HOME%\lib\aspectwerkz-core-%ASPECTWERKZ_VERSION%.jar"
org.codehaus.aspectwerkz.hook.ProcessStarter
-Xbootclasspath/p:"\"%ASPECTWERKZ_HOME%\lib\aspectwerkz-core-%ASPECTWERKZ_VERSION%.jar\""
-cp "\"%CP%\"" -cp
"\"%ASPECTWERKZ_HOME%\lib\aspectwerkz-extensions-%ASPECTWERKZ_VERSION%.jar;%ASPECTWERKZ_HOME%\lib\aspectwerkz-%ASPECTWERKZ_VERSION%.jar;%ASPECTWERKZ_HOME%\lib\aspectwerkz-jdk14-%ASPECTWERKZ_VERSION%.jar;%ASPECTWERKZ_LIBS%\""
-Daspectwerkz.home="\"%ASPECTWERKZ_HOME%\"" %*

So what i have done in my startServer.bat is

Option 1

1. Set the required variables. i.e
	SET JAVA_COMMAND=%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java
	SET ASPECTWERKZ_HOME=C:\aspectwerkz-2.0
	SET ASPECTWERKZ_VERSION=2.0
2. Add the code copied from aspectwerkz.bat which is for the IBM JRE
3. I am getting the following error
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Error: target JVM cannot redefine
classes, please force the use of -Xbootclasspath
        at
org.codehaus.aspectwerkz.hook.ClassLoaderPatcher.redefineClass(ClassLoaderPatcher.java:107)
        at
org.codehaus.aspectwerkz.hook.ClassLoaderPatcher.hotswapClassLoader(ClassLoaderPatcher.java:219)
        at
org.codehaus.aspectwerkz.hook.ProcessStarter.run(ProcessStarter.java:201)
        at
org.codehaus.aspectwerkz.hook.ProcessStarter.main(ProcessStarter.java:271)

Option 2

Referred the Aspectwerkz documentation and followedthe steps described for
the NativeHotSwap.

1. Added the following line to the startServer.bat and executed
"%JAVA_COMMAND%" -Xdebug -Xrunaspectwerkz
-Xbootclasspath/a:%ASPECTWERKZ_HOME%\lib\aspectwerkz-core-2.0.jar;%JAVA_HOME%\lib\tools.jar
2. Got the following error
	JVMCI158: Can't load "aspectwerkz.dll", because Can't find dependent
libraries
	JVMCI098: xmloadJVMHelperLib aspectwerkz , failed
	Could not create the Java virtual machine.
3. Downloaded the aspectwerkz.dll and placed that in the lib folder and
executed the startServer.bat
4. Getting the following error
	AspectWerkz> initializing .....
	AspectWerkz> HotSwap not supported by JVM
	JVMCI159: Unable to initialize JVM helper library aspectwerkz
	JVMCI098: xmloadJVMHelperLib aspectwerkz , failed
	Could not create the Java virtual machine.


Since i am using the WAS 6.0 and the IBM JDK 1.4 - Which option i need to
use?.
