Source compiler

Hello,

A while back I had expressed an interest in trying to squeeze BeanShell into
an Embedded system like TINI but memory and processing speed constraints
make this a very difficult thing to do.


During the past week, however, I have been thinking about the following item
from the BeanShell wish list:
 
># What about a BeanShell source compiler? It could be a modified 
>interpreter that reads a bsh script and produces standard (compileable) 
>Java source code as its output. I'm not sure how advantageous this 
>would really be.

A source compiler might finally provide a way to get BeanShell into Embedded
systems and this would definitely help us Embedded Java developers out.


So, roughly how much work would be involved in creating a BeanShell source
compiler?
