I wasn't talking about JConsole. I was talking about ScheduleWorld :-) I'm 
embedding BSH into ScheduleWorld to be used for several things. It would be 
nice if my Settings dialog could have a button to enable/disable BSH 
debugging.

Having the option to call Object.set[Debug,*](true) for global bsh properties 
as well as system properties enables all environments to configure bsh 
however they please.
