I really like that. I think this makes it possible to almost completely stop any form of feature creap in the core BeanShell syntax yet allow unlimited extensions to BeanShell capabilities. 2. The removal of a single central authority that guards what goes into BeanShell and when. It's good to have a guard to keep BeanShell from exploding like other scripting language efforts. However, why not have the best of both worlds and let anyone extend it in any way they see fit. There is tremendous power and freedom in allowing unlimited <extended> diversity. Note: Extending the eval() method concept to different method names specifying different dialects was the first thing that came to my mind. So you have picked a design of least surprise wrt one person. Just a few comments when I really should be working on a new release of my own... Cheers. P.S. Please post more often about what you have changed/added/fixed/designed about this wonderful BeanShell application of yours. -- Free SyncML-capable J2ME & J2SE replacement for Exchange and Outlook http://www.ScheduleWorld.com/ WAP: http://www.ScheduleWorld.com/sw/WAPToday?id=4000&tz=EST WebDAV: http://www.ScheduleWorld.com/sw/webDAVDir/4000.ics VFREEBUSY: http://www.ScheduleWorld.com/sw/freebusy/4000.ifb ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases.
