I just tried it myself, I see the same results.

My maven tool usually helps me filling out the pom.xml file and
suggests valid entries.
In the artifactId filed, i only get:

biojava
biojava3-alignment
biojava3-core
biojava3-phylo

and when selecting biojava, I only get 3.0 and 3.0.2 in the version field

-> looks linke something is seriously wrong with the maven repo.

Note: when I enter it manually, the 1.8.1 pom is downloaded, but the jar fails.
