I used to be a member of the Servlet API spec team. I resigned over
the 2.4 standardization because Sun insisted that 2.4 have XML schema
attached to it. GNU doesn't have a schema XML engine yet (nor is it
likely to have unless someone is prepared to wrap libxml2).

So I'm quite happy with the 2.3 status.
