IMAPConnection over an SSL Socket

I have code pretty much independent of gnu.inet.* which
establishes an SSL connection to the imap server.

I'd like to use the IMAPConnection class to communicate
the cleartext IMAP protocol over my pre-existing Socket object.

I'm not interested in the STARTTLS capability.

Any tips on how to go about doing this?  Thanks.
