CruiseControl and SourceForge Enterprise Edition

Dear CruiseControl open source community,

A press release will hit the wires today announcing a partnership between
VA Software (SourceForge, etc) and ThoughtWorks. The partnership primarily
focuses on Agile software development using SourceForge Enterprise Edition.

Of interest to the CruiseControl community, CruiseControl will be
integrated with SourceForge Enterprise Edition and VA/ThoughtWorks will
begin offering commercial support contracts for CruiseControl, both
stand-alone and integrated with SFEE.

Beginning in mid-October, I will be working full time with VA software to
make the enhancements necessary to support the integration with SFEE. I
will be working hard to ensure that all enhancements are aligned with
CruiseControl's implicit vision and open-development model. I've guaranteed
that all enhancements will be available as part of the official Cruise
release under the existing license. So, the entire open source community
will benefit from this effort. We will NOT be creating two versions of
Cruise, e.g. the open source version and the enhanced commercial version.
CruiseControl will remain one, unified open source project, as always.

Key benefits:
* further market penetration and brand recognition for CruiseControl
* commercial support available for CruiseControl (a barrier for some
companies to use Cruise)
* corporate funding for Cruise enhancements
* innovation related to 3rd party tool integration should improve other
tool vendor's ability to integrate Cruise into their product suite
* I get to work on Cruise full-time for awhile

It is a testament to the entire Cruise community's efforts that VA wants to
integrate CruiseControl as their continuous integration server. They cite
client demand as their key motivator. VA also prolifically uses
CruiseControl internally. Through the entire pre-press release process of
meetings with VA, I have been extremely proud to be a part of the
CruiseControl project. Thanks to everyone for making Cruise what it is
today.
