Nothing wrong with the Ant Plugin but your logic is wrong.

Do not pass label through the properties. It will be passed automatically.

Remove the line <property name="buildnumber" value="${label}"/>

Add an echo in Test_BuildNumber target

<echo> LABEL : ${label} </echo>. You can see the label getting displayed
without any effort :)

I've been trying to pass a property value to Ant build but so far nothing worked!

I tried the following:

      <ant buildfile="C:\CBuilds\projectA\build.xml">
        
       antscript="C:\Ant\apache-ant-1.6.2\bin\ant_mb_3.6.2.bat"
       antworkingdir="C:\CBuilds\projectA"
       target="Test_BuildNumber"
       uselogger="true"
       usequiet="true"
       usedebug="false"

       <property name="buildnumber" value="${label}"/>

      </ant> 

Does anyone know how to do that? Is there is anything wrong with the above syntax?
