using "Makefile" in cruise control "build.xml" file

Hi I am using Cruise control 2.8.2 version for building the source code. It is expecting a file called "build.xml" as part of checkout. However I dont have any file with this name. In general we use "Makefile" to compile the code. Now the question is how to refer the "Makefile" in build.xml file. Also please share the build.xml file. NOTE: Objective is to build c/cpp files on linux server. Thanks in Advance.
