Finally I managed to get it to work. And yes there is the directory "webapps/cruisecontrol". So you woraround works fine. ;)

Hi Stefan,
 
The link target is in fact the old CruiseControl JSP reporting
application (in 2.8.2 release, it’s the folder “webapps/cruisecontrol”). This means
you must have this webapp installed as well. Directly linking to the log won’t help
because you’d see the XML-Log again… The point is to use the functionality of
the JSP reporting webapp from within the dashboard webapp.
 
Since I’m running the webapps on Tomcat I simply copied both of
them (“dashboar” and “cruisecontrol”) into <Tomcat>/webapps directory. If
you’re running them on Jetty (standard way) I guess it should work out of the
box?!

Hi

I tried your workaround but it didn't manage to get it work. I see the new
entry "View log" in the dashboard but the link is incorrect. 
So my question is on what you want to link on? On the generated build log
files? Somehow I don't have the folder buildresults in 
$req.getContextPath()/../cruisecontrol so I linked to
CRUISE_HOME/logs/${projectName} but it doesn't work. Maybe because
there are several log files in there...

Maybe you can help me.

Hi,

I've seen this question raised several times in the mailing list and
other places but never found a definitive answer:

In the dashboard on the build detail tab of a build there is a "build
log" tab with a link to download the build log in raw XML format.
There's no other content on this page (dashboard - NOT the classic
reporting application). 

I'd like to see the transformed build log (not the XML) inline on this
tab. Is this possible at all?

ng comes up as a response, but AFAIK this does not relate to the
dashboard but to the old reporting application only. 

What I did for now (but deem unsatisfactory) is adding a "View log"
link
to this panel, redirecting to the build results page of the old
reporting application. This is my current content of the
webapps\dashboard\WEB-INF\vm\build_detail\build_detail_partial_log.vm
Template:

Maybe this workaround can help other people, if there's really no
solution to this problem...

My Setup:
CC 2.8.2 on Windows Server 2008 (Standard Edition, SP1, 64-Bit) without
Jetty (Web-Apps running in Tomcat 5.5.17).
