Question regarduing multiple CC instances.

I'm sorry if this has been asked already, but I went back a couple years in the archives and missed any mention of it on the mail list. What I'd like to know is can CC be set up in a manner where one "Master" instance of CC will control one or more "Slave" instances on separate machines? I'm pondering doing a deployment with CC that would possibly be best served if we could set up one instance to fire off tasks in other instances of CC on separate boxes and then aggregate the results. Is there a reference out there for doing something like this?
