Subject: [Cruisecontrol-user] Cruise Control and SVN - "svn: Network connection closed unexpectedly" To: <[email protected]> Hi, I am in the process of setting up cruise control for the first time. I have successfully installed and setup Cruise Control with phpUnderControl using the example provided with phpUnderControl (I am setting up a PHP Continuous Integration Server). Some information on my setup: cc@turnkey-tools /srv/cruisecontrol$ uname -v #36-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 3 22:02:19 UTC 2010 cc@turnkey-tools /srv/cruisecontrol$ svn --version --quiet 1.6.6 cc@turnkey-tools /srv/cruisecontrol$ ls /opt/versions/ cruisecontrol-bin-2.8.3 cc@turnkey-tools /srv/cruisecontrol$ whereis svn svn: /usr/bin/svn /usr/share/man/man1/svn.1.gz Not sure if it is relevant but I run cruisecontrol as an init service changing to the "cc" user account. Cruise Control successful runs under the cc user account. I have progressed on to trying to use Cruise Control to checkout and update the example project that I have added to a subversion repository. However when I configure the config.xml file in accordance with the information in the config.xml reference I receive the below error in the cruisecontrol.log file: ------------ SNIP ------------------ 2010-07-14 14:01:07,450 [Thread-21] INFO Project - Project php-under-control: bootstrapping 2010-07-14 14:01:07,451 [Thread-21] INFO ProjectController - php-under-control Controller: build progress event: bootstrapping 2010-07-14 14:01:07,451 [Thread-21] INFO Project - Project php-under-control: checking for modifications 2010-07-14 14:01:07,452 [Thread-21] INFO ProjectController - php-under-control Controller: build progress event: checking for modifications 2010-07-14 14:01:07,906 [Thread-23] WARN SVN - svn: Network connection closed unexpectedly 2010-07-14 14:01:07,976 [Thread-21] ERROR SVN - Error executing svn log command svn log --non-interactive --xml -v -r {2010-07-14T00:00:00Z}:6 org.jdom.input.JDOMParseException: Error on line 3: XML document structures must start and end within the same entity. at org.jdom.input.SAXBuilder.build(SAXBuilder.java:468) at org.jdom.input.SAXBuilder.build(SAXBuilder.java:851) at net.sourceforge.cruisecontrol.sourcecontrols.SVN$SVNLogXMLParser.parse(SVN.j ava:541) at net.sourceforge.cruisecontrol.sourcecontrols.SVN$SVNLogXMLParser.parseAndFil ter(SVN.java:528) at net.sourceforge.cruisecontrol.sourcecontrols.SVN.execHistoryCommand(SVN.java :449) at net.sourceforge.cruisecontrol.sourcecontrols.SVN.getModifications(SVN.java:2 58) at net.sourceforge.cruisecontrol.ModificationSet.retrieveModificationsAsElement (ModificationSet.java:266) at net.sourceforge.cruisecontrol.Project.getModifications(Project.java:424) at net.sourceforge.cruisecontrol.Project.build(Project.java:198) at net.sourceforge.cruisecontrol.Project.execute(Project.java:147) at net.sourceforge.cruisecontrol.ProjectConfig.execute(ProjectConfig.java:404) at net.sourceforge.cruisecontrol.ProjectWrapper.run(ProjectWrapper.java:69) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619) ------------ End Extract------------ The relevant section of the config.xml file is configured as: ------------ SNIP ------------------ <modificationset> <svn LocalWorkingCopy="/srv/cruisecontrol/projects/php-under-control" useLocalRevision="true" /> </modificationset> ------------ End Extract------------ To try to troubleshoot I have confirmed that I can log in as the cruisecontrol user (cc) and run the command manually and I receive the below result: ------------ SNIP ------------------ cc@turnkey-tools projects/php-under-control$ whoami cc cc@turnkey-tools projects/php-under-control$ svn log --non-interactive --xml -v -r {2010-07-14T00:00:00Z}:6 <?xml version="1.0"?> <log> <logentry revision="6"> <author>pjfoley@turnkey-svn</author> <date>2010-07-13T13:26:09.627969Z</date> <paths> <path kind="file" action="M">/trunk/php-under-control/config.xml</path> </paths> <msg>changed to localworking copy</msg> </logentry> </log> ------------ End Extract------------ For the subversion repository I am connecting to it via svn+ssh, however I have confirmed keychain to cache the key. I have tried googling for a solution but have yet to find anything that might be related. The closest I could find revolves around ensuring that the svn client is in the path and can be run from the cruisecontrol user account (which I have confirmed). I guess the question I am asking is can anyone see anything obviously wrong with the above or is there something obvious that I have missed. Thanks in advance for any ideas that might shed some light on this or resolve it. Peter. ********************************************** Hi Peter, I wonder if this could be related to the relatively recent subversion client feature of NOT storing plain text passwords locally? You could try explicitly adding the svn userId/pwd to the CC config and see if that changes the behavior at all. Also, maybe running CC with the -debug switch will shed light.
