I've been using cruise control 2.8.2 but have upgraded to 2.8.3. With both
versions, I continually get this message in the cruise control log, though
not at regular intervals. It may come as quickly as more than once a minute
or only once in an hour. I've seen from my google search that there was
fix for this bug back in 2008 ( Dec 17, 2008, changeset 4260 ) where prior
you needed to have at least one modification set for each project. I even
tried adding that anyway, but no difference. For our onsite users, the
message seems to be meaningless--the dashboard is still operational, even
though the message sounds severe. But our offsite users routinely complain
that the dashboard does not show up or won't respond or that the build
hangs. From the log I have verified that builds sometimes hang, with many
of the dashboard warning messages as listed in the email title interspersed
with build task steps. A build that should take a minute has taken 15
minutes.
Pertinent info:
Running on windows 2003 server
start script cmd from provided cruisecontrol.bat ( webport was changed from
8080 to 80 otherwise all the defaults)
EXEC=%JAVA_PATH% %CC_OPTS%
-Djavax.management.builder.initial=mx4j.server.MX4JMBeanServerBuilder
"-Djetty.logs=%JETTY_LOGS%" -jar "%LAUNCHER%" %* -jmxport 8000 -webport 80
-rmiport 1099

dashboard-config.xml ( changed default locations for logs and artifacts):
<dashboard>
  <buildloop
     logsdir="D:\ccwork\logs"
           artifactsdir="D:\ccwork\artifacts" />
 <features allowforcebuild=""/>
 <trackingtool projectname="" baseurl="" keywords=""/>
  <subtabs>
     <subtab
class="net.sourceforge.cruisecontrol.dashboard.widgets.ErrorsAndWarningsMessagesWidget"
/>
 </subtabs>
</dashboard>
The config.xml is large and rather standard, so haven't included it.
I've been kicking off cruise control thru the batch script but recently
tried to use the wrapper to start it as a windows service. No change as far
as the dashboard problems. Please let me know what other info might be
helpful. Also this is my first post to this user list. Did I miss how
to do a search of all the archives? The only search box I see is one that
searches all of sourceforge and instead of looking in the mail archives, you
get a return of possbile products to evaluate. Also, do you think this
should be listed in another email list as a bug instead of here? Thanks
all!
