Good question, but it is running as the same user that I'm using to 
successfully start it from the batch file.

However, somewhat related is the fact that it's using a product which mounts a 
WebDAV server as a drive letter (really wishing for a CruiseControl WebDav 
plugin), and *that* product needs to do some special stuff to enable Services 
to access the drive it mounts.

We had to tweak that setup to get it working initially, and this VMware image 
does include that tweaking, but when I commented out the subset of the 
config.xml which uses that mounted drive, the Service remained running and 
seemed to be working for all the other projects.

So while the symptom is entirely different that it was on the other instance 
running this image, it seems related to that web drive setup. Still investigating.
