What should I look for in debug mode? I don't see threads mentioned in the log, should I? Do you have an example of what it would look like?

Which version of cruisecontrol are you using?

For each project what do you have configured in the way of:

listeners
bootstrappers
modificationset
schedule

Have you enabled debug to see is that shows what is happening?

What are you trying to achieve, time based build schedules or
something triggered from a source control checkin?

I've got cruisecontrol currently setup with a thread pool of 10,
monitoring 75 projects all being triggered by source control commits
that also then produce cascading builds locking some projects from
parallel builds.

For performance you might also want to increase the quietperiod from 5
seconds to 60 default or even higher say 120, 300, 600. Otherwise
cruisecontrol will be using all the cpu just to detect if it should
run yet. A previous manager decided to change ours to 1 second as he
wanted rapid building of projects and instant response to source
control commits then complained that cruisecontrol was slow and using
all the cpu and builds time increased.
