Thanks much because the svnbootstrapper was the perfect tool for the job. I removed the composite builder after which my time property started working. I think the problem was the composite builder combined with the time property rather than <schedule> combined with requireMods set to true. The lesson learned is that the bootstrappers element can handle all the pre-build updating. There's no reason to try and accomplish it with composite builds or dependent builds.

I'm not sure that you'll manage to make the <schedule> play nicely when requireModifications is set to true:

"CruiseControl allows the user to schedule an arbitrary number of builds, either on interval or triggered to run at a given date/time, as well as pause intervals during which no builds will be run. Builds will only run if modifications are found, a build is forced from JMX interface, or the <project><http://cruisecontrol.sourceforge.net/main/configxml.html#project> has requireModifications set to false. "

BTW, you might find that this element:

       <ant anthome="${anthome.dir}" buildfile="${antfilesupdater.dir}${antupdaterbuild.file}" target="update" uselogger="true" time="2000" timeout="900"></ant>

Fits better as a bootstrapper.
