Julian:

I'm not sure if we are on the same page here. The same SVN working directory is being used in both the <svnbootstrapper> and <svn> elements: it is just that we are only triggering a build on changes to certain subdirectories. That seems like a reasonable thing to do.

I'll experiment further and let you know if I find any improvements.

Glenn

Sure, it'll just give you 5 minutes back.

You are correct that the localWorkingCopy attribute used in the <svnbootstrapper> element differs from the one used in the <svn> element. That is intentional. I understood that the source code files referenced in the <svnbootstrapper> are loaded when the CI process starts and the files referenced in the <svn> element (inside <modificationset>) are those that trigger a build to start. Those can (and should) be different sets of files, right?

Nope, not in my book. They should match because you want the working copy (i.e. what you're building) to exactly match what was polled for changes (the files in the svn elements). This way, CC builds what it says its building.

I'm not sure about the extra "moving parts" of my project that might be problematic for CruiseControl. This seems so basic that I must be missing something very obvious.

Thanks,
Glenn
