Dear Reader,

This week, ONJava.com contributor Dion Almaer talks about J2EE 
design patterns at the business logic tier.  Specifically, he 
covers the CMP-to-BMP pattern from Sun's revamped container-based 
persistence model now found in EJB 2.0.  Although Dion recommends 
using Container-Managed Persistence (CMP) beans when possible over 
Bean-Managed Persistence (BMP) for efficient development, he shows 
you how to develop a CMP bean. Then he migrates the bean for using 
BMP when needed in the context of an inventory EJB application.

Also this week, we take our last look at this year's JavaOne with 
Daniel H. Steinberg's positive review of Sun's Java University 
program.  Specifically, he says that the program offered a more 
intimate campus as it refreshed its offerings.  Daniel also looks 
at the perennial favorites at Java U., as well as a J2EE and .NET 
course taught by O'Reilly's very own "Java Enterprise in a Nutshell" 
author Jim Farley, and much more.

And finally, O'Reilly's new "Java Web Services" by Tyler Jewell and 
Dave Chappel was quite popular at JavaOne.  We're excerpting an 
overview of UDDI and the Java API extensions on the site; part one 
runs this week.
