Dear Reader,

This week at JavaOne, the focus is on the delay of the 
upcoming Java 2EE 1.4.  One of the reasons, perhaps, is
the introduction of JSR-77, a new vendor-neutral J2EE 
Management API, which is an improvement over the current 
JMX model. JMX didn't specify the meaning behind the 
management interface. Therefore, the client must 
investigate the interface at runtime; then provide 
management UI dynamically. JSR-77 now specifies the 
management interface. In addition, it defines how 
the information is made available to the remote 
client(s) as well as much more, as JBoss contributor Andreas 
Shaefer explains.

Additionally this week, JavaOne focuses on J2ME and wire-
less devices.  But what about networking these wireless 
devices with J2ME performance?  Well, Mike Wilson talks 
about the realities of deploying wireless J2ME under 
unreliable networking. Learn more about wireless network 
programming design decisions for mobile devices on the 
J2ME as the author walks you through a design and 
deployment example.

Also this week, O'Reilly's "Jython Essentials" author
Noel Rappin tells you why you would want to use Jython.
He gives you programming scenarios where Jython would 
make Java development more efficient.  Then he follows
with the eleven specific features of Jython that can be 
particularly time-saving or exciting for Java programmers.

And finally, look for Sue Spielman's JavaOne coverage 
throughout the week on O'Reilly Network's Weblogs as well
