Hi Dario,
Hmm.... tomcat-3.0, heh? That's really old. Actually, there is a
ServerSide article about Enhydra5 and they mention using Tomcat4. See here...
http://www.theserverside.com/home/thread.jsp?thread_id=15313
Actually, now that I think about it, Tomcat-3 never really enforced the
doctype as the newer Tomcat versions do so you can probably leave the 2.3
doctype. Otherwise, the 2.2 doctype is....
<!DOCTYPE web-app
PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.2//EN"
I *highly* recommend moving to the latest CVS of Barracuda (destined to be
1.2.0). It contains numerous bugfixes and is quite re-organized since the
1.1.1 release. Lots of new functionality as well.
Try leaving the <listener> elements in there and see if it breaks under
Enhydra or not. If it doesn't, Enhydra probably is using Tomcat
4.x.xx. And yes, definitely use the "war" target to generate a .war file
which will be generated under Barracuda/WEB-INF/tmp$. Try dropping that
into Enhydra and see what happens. Report back with your findings.
Make sure to read the build_deploy.html doc. Note especially where it
talks about setting up your ant build. Make sure to use
Ant-1.5.1+. Ideally, use Ant-1.5.3-1 (the latest).
Oh, and note that you'll have to put the
Barracuda/WEB-INF/jars/xerces-1.4.4-xmlc-2.2.jar in the Enhydra5
classpath. That is the only required jar that isn't added to WEB-INF/lib
for reasons explained in "deploy" section of the build_deploy.html
document. I don't know what is involved with putting jars in the server
classpath where apps can see them for Enhydra-5? In Tomcat-4.1.xx, the
recommended location is CATALINA_HOME/shared/lib (for your reference).
Definitely report back on your findings.
later,
Jake
