I don't think this made it through to the list night (we seem to have had
server problems again), so Alfred sent this directly to me and I'm
forwarding it on. I've already responded to him that we are definitely
interested and will keep everyone posted as more information becomes
available.

This could be very good news for Barracuda, XMLC, as well as Enhydra...

Subject: AW: [Barracuda] Who are your sponsor?

Hi !

Just want to mention the we (Together Teamlösungen) are currently
negotiating with the company formerly named "Lutris" the transfer / sale of
the copyrights/trademarks/etc. of source codes/documentation/etc. of all
Enhydra projects. If we succeed in those negotiations we will donate that to
Objectweb (a truely open source minded consortium). This would also be a
solution to be able to change licenses from EPL to LGPL.

Since Barracuda is now a more or less independent project but still is
sticking to the EPL, I wanted to ask if there is any interest to do the same
thing for Barracuda. Would mean: Copyright of the original Lutris sources
would be transfered to Objectweb and the license could be changed (with
agreement from your community) to LGPL. Barracuda would be another Objectweb
"sponsored" project.

Greetings.

Alfred Madl

Hi Kanji,

At this point we don't really have a sponsor - at least not an official
one! - but we have lot's of folks/employers who contribute
directly/indirectly by providing development resources to continue improving
Barracuda...

Lutris - these are the people who made Barracuda possible in the first place
by believing in open source and giving me a job where I got paid to lay a
lot of the Barracuda ground work. Although Lutris is pretty much a thing of
the past now, their rule as initial sponsor can't be overlooked.

Internet Exposure - these folks provide us with free hosting! Kudos and
thanks a plenty to them...

Plus a whole bunch of individuals stepped up to the plate and donated their
own hard earned cash to help buy the BarracudaMVC server - you can view the
list of contributors here:
http://www.visi.com/~hoju/barracuda/donations.html

And like I said before, there are literally hundreds of companies and
individuals using Barracuda, and that makes a big impact in terms of
continuing to support and enhance it. We probably don't say it often enough,
but I know all of us committers definitely appreciate the feedback and
support from you the community!

Cheers,
Christian
