AW: Barracuda and DODS (again)

Hi !

Of course we can give back a Barracuda Discrack example based on DODS
5.1 to the Barracuda project ! :-)

Would you like to take the sources from the Enhydra 5.1 sources download
or should we send you the example as an extra package somewhere ?

I think this sample should really be updated again and a nice DODS 5.1
sample in Barracuda makes a lot of sense for us :-)

DODS 5.1 really is not comparable to older DODS releases. We have
COMPLETELY rewritten it, support LRU data caching, query caching, clean
transaction isolation, multi-database support, usage of DODS without
Enhydra Server (e.g. Tomcat + Baracuda + XMLC + DODS, we even have a
Swing example), data lazyloading, pointer lazyloading, configurable
cache initialization at app startup, a very advanced cache admin
application, runtime cache and SQL statistics, runtime cache APIs,
support for almost EVERY database vendor and a lot more...

Currently we are using DODS 5.1 in an application with about 250 tables
and dozens of gigabytes of data with about 1400 Users ! Just like to
encourage everybody to have a look at it !

By the way: Enhydra/Kelp 6.0 will have a "Barracuda Wizard" to
automatically generate a Barracuda / XMLC / Enhydra Application
Framework /DODS based application skeleton...

Greetings.

Alfred

Did you see the post by Alfred Madl on this topic?

Being that Enhyda 5.1 is around now, maybe BarracudaDiscRack needs an
update. The build could include the necessary libraries from Enhydra
5.1
to allow it to run under Tomcat and generate the DODS stuff using an Ant

task (assuming one exists).

If you would like to take up that effort, we would certainly welcome the

changes and get it into an official Barracuda distribution. Knowing
very
little about Enhyda 5.1 or DODS, though, I will not be up to the task of

the upgrade.
